The Revue is back. The longtime Tower District coffee shop has reopened under new owners, a new concept and completely different look.

Lanna Coffee Co. and Ampersand Ice Cream, two of Fresno’s fastest growing businesses, have teamed up to transform the space at 620 E. Olive into what they hope will become one of the hottest spots for young professionals, coffee heads and families.

The Revue’s opening day was Monday and customers appeared overwhelmed at the coffee shop’s new, updated look. It took a little more than a month for the new owners to renovate the coffee shop that was most recently Mia Cuppa Caffe.

Bryan Feil, chief executive officer at Lanna Coffee, described the cafe’s design as having a modern, art deco feel, complete with globe lights, tile with a geometric design, and granite counter tops. The work was done by Cal Custom Tile of Sanger.

As you walk into the coffee shop, you immediately get a feeling of openness and light.

“It has a fresh look that is very inviting,” said Crystal Moritz of Fresno, a customer. “They have definitely breathed new life into this space.”

Along with a new look, The Revue’s menu includes Lanna’s premium locally roasted coffee, teas from L.T. Sue of Hanford, house-made sodas, pour overs, affogatos and espresso drinks.

Jeff Bennett, who owns Ampersand Ice Cream with his wife Amelia, said there are also things you won’t find elsewhere, like whiskey caramel latte – using Ampersand’s house-made recipe – and cold brew milkshake. For the kids there will be milk and cookies and babyccino, or hot chocolate.

Bennett said he wants the coffee shop to appeal to a broad section of customers, including families.

Former owner of Mia Cuppa, Wendy DeRaud, dropped into the Revue on Monday and was pleased to see the changes.

“The Tower District needs a business like this with a good solid reputation,” DeRaud said. “It’s also important to have another business for young people and families that isn’t a bar or a club.”

The DeRaud’s are well known in the art community and will continue to host painting classes in the rear portion of The Revue.

The Revue is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
