Some disappointing restaurant news in Clovis: Thai Fusion Bar & Grill is closing Saturday, Aug. 27.

But it will have a big party first – and we may not have seen the last of the popular restaurant.

The 10-year-old Thai restaurant in the Target shopping center at Willow and Herndon avenues announced in a heartfelt Facebook post that it will close, though did not explain exactly why.

“We cannot express enough gratitude to the many valued guests that enjoyed our restaurant, shared great memories with their friends and became part of our family.   The many compliments and laughter heard throughout the restaurant in our time here was a sound and joyful feeling.”

The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner Saturday, followed by a goodbye bash with a DJ starting at 9 p.m. Friends and customers are welcome.

We may not have seen the last of the food or the people behind Thai Fusion, however. Owner Pong Duangboupha and her family still own B & K Asian Kitchen at First Street and Hedges Avenue (which regularly gets rave reviews).

While it’s not clear exactly why Thai Fusion is closing, manager Patrick Kimball says you may be seeing more of them in the future – just not at that spot.

We’ll keep you updated as usual.
