Fresno area churches host special events for Easter

A number of Fresno area churches are hosting egg hunts and other activities for Easter. Here’s a list of some free events and service times through Easter Sunday, March 27.

Easter egg hunts

Celebration Church Eggsperience Easter party for children is 9-11 a.m. Sunday at its Madera campus at Desmond Middle School, 26490 Martin St. The event will include bounce houses, candy, games, crafts, giveaways and prizes. The Easter Bunny will be present for photos. Sunday services are: 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Madera campus; 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at Clovis campus, 100 W. Ashlan Ave.; and 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Fresno campus, 4842 W. Jacquelyn Ave.

Central Valley Church of Christ, 1009 S. Hazelwood Blvd. in Fresno, egg hunt after 10:30 a.m. Easter Sunday service.

Church @ The Southgate, 7249 E. Kings Canyon Road in Fresno, Golden Egg Hunt is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. It includes several hunts (children are grouped by their age) for thousands of candy-filled eggs, along with face painting, raffle prizes, game booths, popcorn and a photo booth. Sunday service at 10 a.m.

Clovis Hills Community Church, 10590 N. Willow Ave. in Clovis, egg hunts Sunday, March 27, at 9 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. during regular programming for Children’s Ministry, Pier 456 and Junior High. Services at 6:30 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday, and 6:30 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. Sunday.

Harvest of Harmony International Church, 5242 N. Garfield Ave. in Fresno, egg hunt and Easter basket giveaway after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service, along with drawing for a bicycle. Services at 11:30 a.m. Friday, and 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Northside Christian Church, 2709 E. Nees Ave. in Clovis, Easter Egg Maze egg hunts during service times in the NYC building. Services at 6 p.m. Saturday, and 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Peoples Church, 7172 N. Cedar Ave. in Fresno, Most Egg-cellent Hunt with 125,000 candy-filled eggs from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, March 26. Services at noon Friday, and 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday.

St. Mary Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, 4636 W. Dakota Ave. in Fresno, will have its annual Easter egg hunt hosted by The Knights of Columbus at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, in the grass area south of the church hall. Stations of the Cross at 1 p.m. and Celebration of the Lord’s Passion with Holy Communion at 2 p.m. Friday. Mass at 8 p.m. Saturday, and at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday. Spanish service at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Easter plays

Cornerstone Church’s “Jesus: The Resurrection” Easter drama at 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday at the Wilson Theater, 1445 Fulton St. in Fresno. Sunday services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Warnors Theatre, 1400 Fulton St., Fresno. Prayer service at 8 a.m.

Harvest of Harmony International Church, 5242 N. Garfield Ave. in Fresno, “Empty Tomb” theater production at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday. St. Anthony Mary Claret Church, 2494 S. Chestnut Ave. in Fresno, will present a bilingual performance of “The Passion of the Christ” after the 6:30 p.m. bilingual Mass on Thursday, and again at 10 a.m. Friday in Spanish. The performance includes the Stations of the Cross and a celebration.

Truth Tabernacle Church, 4411 N. First St. in Fresno, “Redemption’s Promise” Easter drama at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. Sunday services at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Other Easter activities

Bishop Armando Ochoa of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno will celebrate Easter Sunday Mass beginning with the Salubong Mass at 4:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 5770 N. Maroa Ave. in Fresno, and at St. John’s Cathedral, 2814 Mariposa St. in Fresno, at 6:30 a.m., 7:45 a.m., and 9 a.m.

Campus Bible Church will have a self-guided tour, “God’s Redeeming Story,” that tells the story from Genesis to Jesus’ death, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at their Palm site, 222 East Fountain Way, Fresno. Sunday brunch from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the Palm site, and from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Maple site, 4710 N. Maple Ave., Fresno.
