Tiny Squirrel Gets Caught in a Downpour and Looks Like a Drenched Little Human
We've all been caught in an unexpected rainstorm without an umbrella, and the results can be disastrous. I remember heading to a job interview years ago, long before smartphones and weather apps warned us what was coming, when a storm rolled in out of nowhere. By the time I ran from my car to the office, I was so soaked I looked like I'd just climbed out of a swimming pool... fully clothed!
Amy Lang, who lives in Michigan, recently spotted a tiny baby squirrel taking shelter during a summer downpour, looking completely unsure of what to do next. His soggy predicament has the internet laughing because, after getting drenched, he looked less like the fluffy squirrels we're used to seeing and more like a tiny exhausted human who'd just walked to a job interview like I did in the rain. The hilariously relatable moment has viewers unable to stop watching, and once you see his adorably pitiful little face, it's easy to understand why.
@amygoogalooshki People keep saying he was reaching a hand out to me but he was just stretching his little paw before hiding under a car #michigan#storm#squirrel#fyp#taylornation

How Squirrels Stay Safe During Heavy Rain
According to A-Z Animals, squirrels don't usually enjoy getting soaked, although this little one may have been too young to know what to do. Before a storm arrives, squirrels typically seek shelter in their nests, tree cavities, or other protected spaces where they can stay dry.
If they're caught in a sudden downpour, they'll often hunker down beneath dense branches or make a dash for the nearest cover until the rain passes. Getting wet makes it harder for squirrels to regulate their body temperature, although their fur does provide some insulation against the cold.
A-Z Animals also shared one particularly adorable fact: "Squirrels also know a cute trick to help keep their body dry. They are able to use their tails as a sort of umbrella to protect their bodies during light rain."
Unfortunately for this tiny squirrel, the storm looked a little too heavy for even the best tail umbrella, but his soaked little face definitely gave the internet a giant smile.
