'Landslide' by Fleetwood Mac Is Climbing the Billboard Charts

Some songs make you pause and reflect on the nature of life, and Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" fits that bill. The 1975 folk-rock track is a poignant punch in the gut, to be sure, inspiring notable cover versions from The Smashing Pumpkins and The Chicks (this one wrecked little Melody back in the day). It was featured on the band's self-titled 10th studio album, which was the first with the addition of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.

Nicks wrote and sang the tune, which peaked at No. 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the US Adult Contemporary charts in 1998. It returned to the Hot 100 in January 2026, debuting at No. 41. However, as of this week, "Landslide" is steadily climbing another Billboard chart: Rock Streaming Songs, where it currently sits at No. 21.

So, why is this iconic Fleetwood Mac song having a resurgence? It was included in the series finale of Netflix's mega-hit show Stranger Things, which premiered on the platform on Dec. 31, 2025. It seems that "Landslide" is finding new life as the next generation discovers not only its greatness, but the genius of Fleetwood Mac. Stranger Things is also responsible for Kate Bush's 1985 classic "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2022.

While "Landslide" wasn't initially released as a single, its enduring popularity is only strengthening over the decades. Rolling Stone ranked the Fleetwood Mac hit at No. 163 on the 2021 edition of its "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list (which is interesting, considering the publication's 1975 review claimed Nicks seemed "lost and out of place"). Retrospective appraisals laud "Landslide" as one of the legendary group's best songs, and that it's "built on a very simple (and very effective) country-folk chord progression."

Where does "Landslide" rank for you in Fleetwood Mac's versatile and expansive catalog?
