Beloved HBO Series 'Industry' Ranked Among Best Shows of 2026 by Critics

The fourth season of HBO's acclaimed business thriller Industry was ranked among the best shows of the year so far, according to a list pulled together by The Hollywood Reporter.

Industry's fourth season aired weekly throughout January and February, kicking the year off with some of the most impressive television HBO has produced for some time. The show received strong reviews from critics, and will hopefully be in contention for several Emmy Awards when the year draws to a close.

Industry follows a group of finance graduates who undertake a cutthroat business internship at Pierpoint, a prestigious stock trading market based in London. As the graduates compete with each other for the approval of the company, the internal politics of high-stakes trading threaten to tear their friendship apart.

Industry season 4 primarily follows Myha'la's protagonist, Harper Stern, who has since left Pierpoint and set up a short-only fund with her ex-boss, Eric Tao. When the duo attempts to profit from the new government's stricter internet regulations by shorting a company with connections to the pornography industry, they uncover a legal conspiracy that changes everything.

Industry season 4 has everything that fans have come to love about the show: high-stakes storytelling, heated internal politics, and complex characters whose relationships are constantly fraying at the edges. It's a story that constantly feels like it's ready to blow, which makes for incredibly engaging viewing.

While every season of HBO's Industry has been reviewed positively, the recent fourth season was arguably the strongest yet. The season received a score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, with a critics' consensus that reads: "Betting on its own adaptability after resetting the board and analyzing new market forces, Industry yields a handsome payout with this sterling fourth season."

HBO has already confirmed that Industry will return for a fifth season in the near future, and that these upcoming episodes will be the show's last. Myha'la, Marisa Abela, Kit Harrington, Ken Leung, and Miriam Petche are all expected to reprise their roles from the previous season.
