Napa finds its new city attorney in Marin County counsel's office
Renee Giacomini Brewer, an assistant county counsel for Marin County, will become the next Napa city attorney starting Aug. 24.
The Napa City Council on Tuesday, June 16, approved an employment agreement for Giacomini Brewer, after interviewing her during a closed session meeting on June 2. Giacomini Brewer's annual salary will be $290,000, according to the agreement.
Giacomini Brewer, who has provided legal services for Marin County for over three decades, will step into the city of Napa's top legal job following the departure of longtime city attorney Michael Barrett at the end of April 2024. The city in the meantime has relied on interim city attorney Christopher Diaz of Best Best & Krieger LLP.
According to a city news release, Giacomini Brewer brings "experience in public agency law, governance, litigation, labor and employment law, and local government operations" to the city.
"We are excited to welcome Ms. Giacomini Brewer to the City of Napa," said Napa Mayor Scott Sedgley in the news release. "Her deep expertise in public agency law and collaborative approach to problem solving will be invaluable to our organization and the community."
