The San Diego County Fair brings with it a lot of opportunities for spending money, from concert tickets and fancy fried food to rides and games.

Thankfully, there are a few deals and discounts locals can consider to help with affordability. For example, children ages 5 and under can visit for free, and ages 5 to 12 get in free on Fridays.

Here’s a look at more of what the fair has to offer for attendees on a budget.

Albertsons and Vons discounts: San Diegans can find cheaper tickets at Albertsons and Vons, saving up to $8.50 per ticket.

Pay-One-Price Ride Days: On Wednesdays and Thursdays, fairgoers can purchase a wristband for unlimited Fun Zone or Kids Zone rides from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The pass is $55 is addition to fair admission.

Game on Fridays: If you enjoy trying your luck at the midway games, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, games in the Fun Zone and Kids Zone will only require four BlastPass credits to play.

Kids Day: Every Friday, children 12 and under get in free. Plus they'll receive a coupon for buy-one-get-one-free admission to Legoland California theme park in Carlsbad.

Passport to Savings: More than 50 of this season's food vendors are offering discounts and specials that can be found in the Passport to Savings coupon books available at the fair's information kiosks. These deals can also be found online at sdfair.com/businesses/food-drink/passport-to-savings.

Fair Tripper: Fairgoers taking public transit can save on combining their NCTD or MTS ride with a fair ticket. A special Fair Tripper pass provides combined round-trip transportation and fair admission. Learn more at sdfair.com/p/plan-your-visit/tickets-deals/fair-tripper.

Foodie Fridays: A lineup of entries in this year’s fair food competition will be available to order for half price from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays.

Value meal deals: Throughout the fair, concessionaires will be serving entrees with either a side or a drink for $15. Options include two tacos and a small agua fresca from Alicia’s Mexican Kitchen, a small turkey dog, onion rings and a small fountain soda from Pinks Hot Dogs and rice, a vegan option and an iced chai tea from Rafikiz Foodz.
