California man identified as Lake Tahoe drowning victim
The man who drowned in Lake Tahoe over the weekend has been identified.
Jayden E. Robinson, 25, of Highland, California, died near Hidden Beach in Incline Village, Nevada, on Saturday, according to the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office, the Tahoe Daily Tribune first reported. His death was ruled an accidental drowning.
Around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, crews with the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District responded to a report of a possible drowning on the lake's north shore. Responders recovered Robinson from the water and began resuscitation measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, the district said in a news release.
"The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District extends its sincere condolences to the victim's family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time," the agency said.
The circumstances surrounding the drowning remain under investigation.
The latest death adds to a string of fatal water incidents around Lake Tahoe and Donner Lake in recent years. Authorities have repeatedly warned that cold water, sudden weather changes and strong winds can create dangerous conditions even during warm summer weather. Last month, a swimmer drowned in Donner Lake after becoming separated from his pontoon boat, while a deadly June 2025 storm on Lake Tahoe left eight boaters dead.
Lake Tahoe's cold water poses a risk to swimmers even during warm weather, officials say. Snowmelt keeps the lake chilly through summer, and sudden immersion in cold water can trigger shock that impairs swimming ability. Officials recommend using the buddy system, wearing a life jacket and avoiding diving headfirst into open water.
