June 18 A-E Source: 707 Journal Club to co-host North Bay Stationary Fest
For those in search of whimsical trinkets, stationery and other cute finds, 707 Journal Club's upcoming market may offer the perfect Saturday outing.
707 Journal Club, a Vallejo-based junk journaling group, and the Bay Area Junk Journal Club will present Journal Land Fest on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Hall of the Above in downtown Petaluma.
The first 50 guests will receive a free sticker sheet.
With more than 25 vendors spread across two floors - the Craft Corner downstairs and the Loft upstairs - guests can browse aisles filled with washi tape, pens, stickers, scrapbook paper and other stationery items.
The festival is also A.I.-free, meaning all artists have hand-crafted and hand-made their own artwork and products.
Additional trinket vendors include Little Eileen Things, Charmed by Alee, Cherjisstars, The Wombat Burrow, and Crafted by Lesly.
Drink options will also be provided from Little Delights Matcha and Baked Goods Shop, along with Melattes Café.
"We don't really have a stationary market like this in the area. Usually, most of them are across the bridge in San Francisco or sometimes in Sacramento. It's rare for something like this to be hosted in the North Bay," said 707 Journal Club Founder Margaret Pail. "That's why this festival is primarily focused on the 707 area code. This is also targeted more for the Gen Z crowd."
Guests can also participate in workshops held throughout the day on the second floor.
The 707 Journal Club and the Bay Area Junk Journal Club will host two junk journaling sessions downstairs at the "craft corner" at noon and 2 p.m.
"We'll have scissors, gluesticks, stickers, and all the essentials needed. Anything that you want to journal with, we'll provide," said Pail.
One of the artists featured will be Kaliya Mendez and her live portraits booth. Mendez is a graphic designer and live portrait artist based in the Bay Area.
"We're so excited to have her. She makes cute, personalized portraits," said Pail.
Other workshops include a Crayola hand lettering shop, a decoden workshop, and a charmed clip and traveler's notebook workshop.
Although admission is free, there is also a VIP option for attendees to choose.
With a VIP ticket, attendees can enter the venue an hour earlier and receive a custom tote bag with freebies from gold-tier sponsors and artists.
"It's gonna be a cute little pack that people can take home to journal with or decorate their space with," said Pail.
Though Petaluma may be out of the way, Pail encourages community members to get out and explore the area.
"It's always fun to explore a new area. There are a couple of stationery stores even around downtown Petaluma that I think are worth the drive just because there aren't as many boutique stationery stores in Vallejo that sell cutesy art," Pail said.
