Why Kittens Always Think Your Food Belongs to Them
Why do kittens think, even from such a young age, that all food belongs to them?
First of all, kittens are very curious little creatures.
So, of course, food, especially food they have never been exposed to before, is very interesting to them with its new smells and textures.
Plus, they see you eating it and get very excited by that!
Also, mealtime is often communal for kittens, so they may think what's yours is theirs! They also like to be fed by humans.
It's a positive experience for them, so why wouldn't they try to repeat that, especially with a delicious snack like cheese wrapped in prosciutto?!
There's also an aspect of social mimicry that could be at play.
Cats will mimic human behavior to get attention, so when they're trying to eat your food, it's actually them attempting to socialize.
However, kittens need to have a balanced diet full of the right nutrients, and some human food will not help with that and could even be toxic for them, so be sure to look up everything before you give your kitten a bite.
