KFC Overhauls Menu with Expanded Options and ‘Unexpected' Sauces
Things are about to get even more finger lickin' good at KFC.
On Monday, June 15, the fast food giant announced the launch of its "next chapter," a rollout which includes a revamped menu, brand new "unexpected" sauce and beverage options, and improvements to its "restaurant experiences" for anyone not taking their food to go.
"In an increasingly crowded category, we have a clear opportunity to set the standard for modern chicken in QSR," said Scott Mezvinsky, CEO, KFC Global in a press release. "This next chapter brings new energy and expression to what makes us iconic, while doubling down on our chicken and reimagining how fans experience KFC around the world."
New KFC Items Revealed
As part of the announcement, KFC confirmed their "Dipped" offerings will include chicken tenders and "other favorite boneless options" paired with sauces from its new "global sauce ‘pantry.'"
The "pantry" includes a lineup of more than 20 different sauces, which the brand says are "designed to tap into growing consumer demand for personalization and sensory flavor experience." The "internationally-inspired yet familiar" sauces, KFC says, can be tailored to local tastes, with examples cited including Chimichurri Ranch and Hot Honey Habanero.
KFC also confirmed its "Dunked" menu will expand from South Africa and India into new markets.
"Dunked menu items reflect growing consumer demand for more indulgent, sauce-forward menu experiences," reads the release, as tenders, wings, and sandwiches are "drenched in sauce for an immersive, flavor-first eating experience that brings bold flavor and craveability to every bite."
Lastly, the brand is introducing its KWENCH by KFC platform, which they say is "redefining KFC's role in drinks." The new offerings under this initiative include Boba Refreshers, Krunch Shakes, Sparkling Lemonades and Iced Coffees.
With the new menu promising "more ways to customize flavors," new tenders and nine new sauces will begin to roll out in the UK and Ireland, before expanding to Australia and the U.S. "in the coming weeks."
New Restaurant Experiences
This summer, KFC also promises to open "a new generation of spaces designed for hospitality, not just efficiency," with additional locations.
"These next-gen restaurants are designed to elevate the dining experience and bring KFC's signature hospitality to life, taking shape across key markets through distinct new formats," reads the press release.
The first new concept locations will open in McKinney, Texas late summer, before a "full immersive, two-story restaurant in Dubai" in the fall.
The company is also rebranding its packaging a bit, in a move to "feel more relevant, more expressive, and more in tune with modern culture." This includes a "subtle evolution" of the Colonel Sanders image on KFC's iconic buckets, as well as updated packaging and promotion imagery (main photo above).
