Roku Adds Nearly 80 Free Channels in 2026, Expanding Streaming Options

Over the first few months of 2026, Roku has been regularly augmenting its free channel lineup on The Roku Channel, which is the company's free ad-supported streaming television service.

Including the most recent additions in early June, Roku has now introduced dozens of fresh viewing options for users, with more coming.

Below is a quick rundown of what the company, founded in 2002, has been up to.

How many free channels has Roku added so far this year?

The answer is nearly 80, with a more complete breakdown as follows:

  • January: 6 channels added, including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, My Wife & Kids and The Virginian.
  • February: 17 channels added, including Pokémon 24/7, The Bernie Mac Show and Willow Sports.
  • March: 15 channels added, including National Geographic History, National Geographic Animals and National Geographic Travel.
  • April: 22 channels added, includingRawhide, The Beverly Hillbillies and MTV en Español.
  • May: 15 channels added, including Alaska State Troopers, Lead Story Breaking News and Stokes Twins.
  • June: 4 channels added thus far, including two FIFA channels for the 2026 World Cup, which begins Thursday, and Sports Illustrated.

"Roku is investing very heavily, not just in on-demand content, with exclusive original content only available through The Roku Channel, but also a growing number of live channels out there, with partnerships with everything from CNN 24/7 to classic shows like a 24/7 feed of Johnny Carson, Pokémon 24/7, sports networks added, partnering with Disney to bring things like Nat Geo History, Nat Geo Animals, Nat Geo Travel to the lineup with this, Inspector Gadget, classic kids shows 24/7 and more," said Luke Bouma of Cord Cutters News.

More is on the way

Roku is clearly prioritizing its free offerings, with more expected additions coming this month and throughout the back half of the year.

"Keep an eye on Roku and The Roku Channel," Bouma added. "They are, according to Nielsen, now the largest, most-watched free, ad-supported streaming service, with Tubi and Pluto TV coming in second and third. Keep an eye on the growth there."
