New Leaks Suggest Bad News For 'Resident Evil Requiem' Fans
Resident Evil Requiem has only been out for around four months, but fans are craving more from Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft's story. Unfortunately, according to a new leak, it seems fans will be waiting quite a while for more story DLC for the game.
According to known leaker Dusk Golem on X, there will not be any major story content added for Requiem until after the just-announced Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of Resident Evil - Code: Veronica, releases in 2027.
"Word in the grapevine is that RE9 DLC is releasing after Resident Evil Veronica. To see how it plays out, but it's been murmured to be further out," wrote Dusk Golem.
Normally, this would just be a bad internet rumor. However, Dusk Golem does have a pretty solid track record for mostly accurate information from Capcom, even revealing the name of Resident Evil Requiem before its official announcement.
Capcom previously confirmed that Requiem would get new story content, mirroring the post-release plans of Capcom's other recent Resident Evil entries, like Resident Evil 4 remake and Resident Evil Village. If this leak is true, it would be the longest any modern RE game has gone without additional story content (besides Resident Evil 3 remake, which did not receive any post-launch content).
Speculation by Dusk Golem and some fans is that Capcom wishes to have fans return to Requiem after Resident Evil Veronica, and then also return to Resident Evil Veronica after playing the future Requiem DLC, giving fans a chance to get acquainted and re-acquainted with characters, tone, story, and overarching timeline of the series.
Capcom recently shadow-dropped an extra Requiem game mode called Leon Must Die Forever, which was essentially a roguelike mode.
All of this information should be met with skepticism, as Capcom has made no official statements regarding the Resident Evil Requiem story DLC, other than confirming that it is in development.
