Savannah Guthrie Ambushes Jennifer Lopez With Brett Goldstein Dating Question
TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie peppered Jennifer Lopez with dating questions during a television show appearance, but Lopez made it clear she's single.
Still, Guthrie wasn't having it, accusing Lopez of dodging her questions at one point. Brett Goldstein, Lopez's co-star in the Netflix film Office Romance, is the subject of speculation. With Goldstein sitting on set alongside Lopez on June 2, Guthrie cut to the chase and asked whether the romance rumors between them were true.
Is Jennifer Lopez Dating Brett Goldstein?
What was Lopez's response? "There's never a time when I'm seen with somebody or working with somebody where they don't try to put me with the person," Lopez told Guthire, according to Page Six.
Goldstein also weighed in, saying, "I think if you stand near her, that's what happens." He added, according to People, ""That's why I've been standing so close this whole time."
According to Page Six, Guthrie implied that was a dodge, saying, "OK, but I'll just say, because I'm me and you know me, that was not an answer."
"That was not an answer? It was an answer!" retorted Lopez. When Guthrie pressed her further about whether she is dating, she answered, "Not dating."
"Correct," said Goldstein. According to People, Lopez later joked that she and Goldstein had "flustered" Guthrie, who also claimed she was flustered by being near Lopez.
Sources helped the speculation swirl when a source told Peoplelast month: "Her flirty energy with Brett is genuine. She really likes him." Lopez "in a great place on her own right now though and doesn't need a relationship to feel happy," the source added.
Who Is Brett Goldstein?
According to The List, Goldstein "became internationally known after playing soccer player Roy Kent on 'Ted Lasso' and he and Lopez play love interests in the new Netflix film, 'Office Romance.'" That romantic storyline may have sparked some of the rumors.
Lopez even mentioned unfounded chatter that she was dating Kevin Costner when she was photographed standing near him in a store, according to The List, to make the point that romance rumors tend to spring up around her whenever she is in proximity to a man. The List described her as seeming frustrated by the line of questioning.
"Because all these people that they put me, I think I was with Kevin Costner this year. I was with … there was a lot of people. It happens all the time. Doesn't make it true," she said, according to TODAY.
The official trailer for the Office Romance movie makes it clear why the rumors started; it shows Goldstein's lawyer character falling in love with, and romancing, an airline CEO played by Lopez. The trailer indicates the forbidden nature of an office romance comes nto play in the plot. The Netflix blurb for the movie says, "Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein lead a raunchy romantic comedy about a secret office romance and the trouble two workaholics get in when they start thinking with their hearts."
In real life, Lopez has been married four times, most recently to actor Ben Affleck. She was also married to Marc Anthony, Cris Judd and Ojani Noa.
