A hairless sphynx cat is kind of like driving a white car. You always know when it's dirty, because there's no color to hide the marks!

Lindsey Kuzmin is mom to two cats named Marshall and Leela who posts lots of cute cat videos to YouTube. Marshall is a sphynx, and commenters are always marveling at how squeaky clean he looks in Kuzmin's videos, but as it turns out, that takes a lot of work.

"Everyone always asks me how Marshall stays so clean all the time," she says in the video's voiceover, "Well, hate to break it to you, but he doesn't."

She gives us a better example of how he looks most of the time, with little patches of dirt showing here and there, despite his best efforts to clean himself.

"Most people just assume that, because he's a Sphynx, I'm constantly giving him baths," mom continues, "but he really only gets a real bath maybe once a month."

The rest of the time, Marshall gets a daily cleaning mini-bath, and thankfully for those Sphynx parents out there who would like their cat to be a little cleaner, she shares the step-by-step guide to keeping your hairless kitty sparkling.

How to Maintain Daily Hygiene for a Hairless Sphynx Cat

It all starts with two particular products: microfiber cleaning cloths and an exfoliating glove.

Every single day, Marshall's mom soaks a microfiber washcloth in warm water. The temperature is key, as this makes the experience much more comfortable for the cat in question.

"He even kind of thinks he's cleaning himself when we do this," Marshall's mom says.

She scrubs everything from his chest up, including his neck, face, eyes and ears. Then, she breaks out the exfoliating glove and gives his nose a little rub. This part here is her secret weapon for keeping Marshall looking red-carpet-ready.

"The glove is the only thing that's really going to get the little crusties off," she says. "I just get it a little bit damp and then I kind of go to town on his face."

She shows us images of Marshall's nose before and after exfoliation, and it really does make a huge difference in the color and healthy glow.

Marshall's mom gives a little hint about his ears, showing the aftermath of a cleaning session with some cotton swabs, but she doesn't get into the nitty-gritty of that detail job-at least, not in this video.
