Two ‘Saturday Night Live' greats to appear at beautiful Bay Area venue

Two all-time great “Saturday Night Live” greats — Dana Carvey and David Spade — have teamed up for what should be a hilarious comedy tour that touches down June 14 at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga.

Carvey likely ranks as an all-time great comedian — period — whether or not you are just referencing “Saturday Night Live” or his overall work in the funny business.

Sure, he was an absolute laugh riot on “Saturday Night Live,” where he performed for seven seasons (1986-1993) and earned which five consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations — one of which he’d win.

Carvey, who grew up on the Peninsula and practiced his comedic craft in San Francisco clubs, is also known for such films as 1990’s “Opportunity Knocks,” 1994’s “Trapped in Paradise,” 2002’s “The Master of Disguise” (2002) and, of course, 1992’s “Wayne’s World” and 1993’s “Wayne’s World 2.”

Spade was a writer and cast member on “Saturday Night Live” from 1990 to 1996, then went on to achieve even greater fame in the fabulous role of Dennis Finch in the NBC sitcom “Just Shoot Me!” (1997–2003). His move credits include 1995’s “Tommy Boy,” 1996’s “Black Sheep, 1998’s “Senseless,” 2001’s “Joe Dirt” and 2003’s “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star.”

The two stars also collaborate together on the “Saturday Night Life” themed podcast “Fly on the Wall.”

Showtime at the Mountain Winery is 8 p.m. and tickets start at $101, mountainwinery.com. Also of note: Mountain Winery has a new restaurant – La Cucina Italiana – so consider making reservations to check that out before the show.
