'Scandal' Is Leaving Netflix on December 17, 2026

On May 31, 2026, What's on Netflix'sKasey Moore reported that Scandal will be leaving Netflix on December 17, 2026. Even though the series won't be gone for several months yet, now is the perfect time for its upcoming departure to be revealed. The epitome of a high-stakes political thriller, Scandal stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, the leader of a crisis management company who cleans up scandals for the rich and powerful. As fans will already know, one of the controversies she works to keep under wraps is her affair with the United States President Fitzgerald Grant, who is expertly played by Tony Goldwyn. The series, which was created by Shonda Rhimes, also starred Bellamy Young, Jeff Perry, Joe Morton, Katie Lowes, Scott Foley, and Guillermo Díaz, among others.

The most important thing that Scandal earned during its impressive run on television was an incredibly devoted fan following who deeply invested in its stories and characters. Still, it is also worth noting that it won an extremely long list of major awards. The show earned accolades at the Primetime Emmy Awards, BET Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Critics' Choice Television Awards, and many more.

'Scandal' Became a Hollywood Favorite

In 2016, The Hollywood Reporter compiled its list of "Hollywood's 100 favorite TV shows." To do so, the outlet asked more than 2,800 Hollywood insiders for their television opinions. After accumulating the results, Scandal was ranked at No. 77, surpassing many iconic shows. Some of the series that it was ranked above include The Flintstones, Alias, Scrubs, and The Brady Bunch.
