Adam Sandler pops up at Original Joe's, San Francisco skate shop and Valkyries game

Adam Sandler made an unexpected Bay Area stop over the weekend, turning up at Original Joe's Westlake in Daly City and a San Francisco skate shop.

"It's always a good day when @adamsandler is in town!" the restaurant shared on Instagram on Saturday, May 30.

Sandler also appeared in a post from Everyday SFC, a skate shop at 10 Geary St. near Union Square.

"Team Player @adamsandler," the shop wrote on Instagram.

The posts quickly drew excited responses from fans and regulars of the longtime Peninsula dining spot and the San Francisco shop.

The sightings came the same weekend Sandler and his wife, Jackie Sandler, were spotted courtside at Sunday's Golden State Valkyries game against the Las Vegas Aces at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Original Joe's Westlake did not say what Sandler ordered, how long he stayed or why he was in the Bay Area. A manager did not immediately respond to the Chronicle's request for comment.

Still, the sighting was enough to stir up local enthusiasm. Several commenters said they had just missed him, while others praised the restaurant as one of their favorite Bay Area spots.

Original Joe's Westlake, at 11 Glenwood Ave., is one of the region's best-known old-school Italian American restaurants. The location traces its roots to Joe's of Westlake, a Daly City institution from 1956 to 2014. After a two-year closure and renovation, it reopened as Original Joe's Westlake.

The restaurant is part of the Original Joe's family of restaurants, whose San Francisco history dates to 1937, when Tony Rodin opened the original restaurant in the Tenderloin.

Sandler, 59, broke through as a "Saturday Night Live" cast member (1990-1995) and has since made a name for himself with comedies including "Billy Madison" (1995), "Happy Gilmore" (1996) and "The Wedding Singer" (1998). He's also been lauded for dramatic roles in films such as "Punch Drunk Love" (2002), "Uncut Gems" (2019) and "Jay Kelly" (2025).

But he has been in the news recently for a very different public appearance: his outfit at the Los Angeles premiere of Netflix's "Office Romance," which stars his wife, Jackie Sandler. The actor's casual Knicks-themed look drew online debate, with some criticizing it and others defending his famously relaxed "Sandlercore" style.

His Daly City appearance was far less divisive.
