Rotary marks 100 years
A centennial exhibit about the local Rotary titled “A Century of Service: 100 Years of the Rotary Club of Coronado” runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays through June 21 at the Coronado Historical Association, 1100 Orange Ave. The exhibit gives a glimpse into the Coronado Rotary’s history in the community since 1926, carrying the motto “Service Above Self.” The exhibit features photographs, artifacts and personal stories. Art series on Women in Mexican Muralism
An art presentation series on Women in Mexican Muralism is from noon to 1:30 p.m. June 4, 11 and 18 at the John D. Spreckels Center, 1019 Seventh St. The series looks at the work and influence of female muralists in 20th-century Mexican art after the Mexican Revolution and will be led by Maria Del Carmen Perez Talamantes. Encinitas Rotary Wine & Food Festival is from 4 to 7 p.m. June 6 at Encinitas Ranch Golf Course. The event benefits various community charities that attendees choose. Pet Loss Support Group
A Pet Loss Support Group meets from 9 to 10:30 a.m. June 13 in Vivian's Learning Center at the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. The group meets on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month and is led by a grief counselor. Free; donations are appreciated. Adopt-a-Pet Day
The Rancho Coastal Humane Society is among animal shelters statewide waiving pet adoption fees on June 6 for adult dogs, cats, and rabbits as part of the annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day. The Escondido Art Association is accepting art for its June Gallery Show, themed Summer Days. Take-in of art is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 6 and the show runs June 9 to July 3. The winning entries will be critiqued by the judge and her comments posted on the association website for public viewing. Gold, silver and bronze and honorary commendations will be awarded. The Heartland Firefighters of La Mesa will host a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser and emergency preparedness training from 8 a.m. to noon June 7 at La Mesa Fire Station 11, at 8034 Allison Ave. The event will feature emergency preparedness training for the public in CPR, basic first aid and crime prevention. There will be training "stations" with information. Tickets are $5 at the door and include pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and orange juice. Proceeds benefit the La Mesa community.

Freedom Challenge walk benefits trafficking survivors
GenerateHope, a San Diego-based nonprofit serving survivors of sex trafficking, is partnering with Freedom Challenge to host a 45-mile, three-day coastal walk June 12-14 from Oceanside Harbor to Coronado. The route passes through eight cities, ending at GenerateHope’s safe haven, Carole’s Cottage. Participants can join a three-day or one-day challenge, with fundraising going to Freedom Challenge’s local and global work. Fee is $100; $400 for three-day challenge. Summer concerts, programs at SeaWorld
