Kevin Hart Opens Up about Truth Behind Katt Williams Reconciliation at Netflix Roast

Although Netflix live-streamed The Roast of Kevin Hart back on May 10, comedy legend Kevin Hart has waited until now to address some of the much-talked-about moments of the special. Stopping by the famous syndicated morning show, The Breakfast Club, with hosts Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, and Loren Lorosa, the Think Like a Man funnyman was quite candid and open about his roast. Not only did he address the online backlash to Tony Hinchcliffe's now-infamous George Floyd joke, but Hart also opened up about his reconciliation with the incomparable Katt Williams, which was a pleasant surprise to the comedy world.

Hart and Williams had previously spent years with a rift between them, with People pointing to some unfriendly remarks made by Williams about Hart as an underlying cause. Heck, many will even recall Williams making disparaging comments about Hart as recently as 2024 in Williams' mic-drop interview with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay. So what did Hart share with The Breakfast Club about what led him and Williams to finally let bygones be bygones?

Kevin Hart and Katt Williams Made Peace 8 Months Ago

Charlamagne asked Hart, "So Katt Williams, did you feel pressure publicly to reconcile because the culture wanted closure, or was that personal for you?" Hart was quick to reply, "No. Me and Katt have been, we reconciled prior."

After the actor/comedian confirmed he made peace with Williams eight months ago, Charlamagne further inquired, "What brought that on? How did that happen? Cause everyone knows the infamous Club Shay Shay interview, plus he's been taking shots at you for years. What happened?"

Hart's response was honestly slightly coy, citing privacy. However, he ultimately shared:

"Katt and I had a conversation, a conversation, a private conversation between me and Katt. But the baseline was like, ‘We're older. This is years and years and years of. There's no reason why we shouldn't figure out a world of compromise, where we can get along. And, we can give the fanbase something different with us, something that's unexpected, and figure out a way to work together. Right? Figure out a way to f*cking bring the comedy minds we both have and put them at the table and do sh*t."

"Katt thought it was f*ckin time to do it. As did I. We shook hands. Great conversation, great dialogue. The first thing that came up, of course, was the roast. When the opportunity of the roast came up, I reached out to Kat, ‘It would be dope as f*ck if you did it.' Katt said, ‘We just got in a good space. Kev if I do it, I'm gonna do it.' I said, ‘Have at it.'"

Hart was also very clear that he and Williams are in "a good spot." Now, given Hart's remarks about him and Williams putting their "comedy minds" on the table and "doing sh*t," it's easy to assume the two have a joint project in the future. However, Hart never expressly confirmed that notion, nor has Williams, as of publication. You can check out the clip from the interview below.
