Emotional Ronaldo Leads Al-Nassr to Saudi Pro League Title

At age 41, the man who has accomplished nearly everything possible in soccer, still cares.

Cristiano Ronaldo could not contain his emotions after leaving the pitch. A 4-1 lead secured Al-Nassr the victory against Damac, and their first Saudi Pro League championship since the 2018-19 season.

Ronaldo did it in his usual goal-scoring style, netting a brace in the clinching matchup. This comes just a few weeks before he is set to lead Portugal in this year's World Cup.

Fans online joked that if Ronaldo was this emotional for the Saudi Pro League championship, he would be uncontrollable if Portugal won the World Cup.

The World Cup is the only thing that evades Ronaldo. He's had international success with Portugal, winning the Euros in 2016 and two Nations League titles. He's had immeasurable success for his clubs, with multiple Champions League and domestic titles while representing the top teams in the world. And of course he's had the individual success with five Ballon d'Or trophies.

Portugal will be one of the favorites in this year's competition. The team is loaded in attack, with players in their prime such as Bruno Fernandes, Nuno Mendes, and Vitinha. The question will be in defense. Portugal, ironically a team historically built on defense, is lacking this go around.

Another concern is coaching. Roberto Martinez has had some success as manager, but often leaves much to be desired from the Portuguese faithful, especially given their overall talent.

Despite his remarkable longevity, the Portuguese squad knows this will be Ronaldo's last World Cup. They will do their best to deliver the elusive title to their legendary captain. And if the tears shed in Riyadh are any indication, Ronaldo will give every last drop he has to make sure it happens.
