Sly Lovebird Caught Sneaking Treats to the Dog-and Looking Around to Make Sure the Coast Is Clear
Animals of different species sometimes find common ground and form lifelong friendships. While it may seem like they come from opposite worlds, our furry friends can put differences aside and focus on their similarities and shared goals.
Kevin the Lovebird clearly loves the dogs in his house and shows it in a very creative and generous way.

In the TikTok from @abirdnamedkevin, the green-and-yellow Lovebird proudly stood at the top of a cabinet where dog treats were kept. Kevin had half of his body in the biscuit container as he started grabbing some with his beak. Once he got a good hold of a biscuit, Kevin dropped it to his canine siblings.
"Kevin has been secretly feeding our dogs treats," the onscreen text explained. "He even checks if he succeeded."
The benevolent bird stood over the cabinet and waited to see that they were properly fed. Once his efforts were confirmed successful, Kevin performed a little happy dance to celebrate a job well done.
Followers got a kick out of Kevin's 'covert mission' and raved over his dedication to give his canine siblings some extra snacks.
"I'm crying because he's happy he did a nice thing," one noted.
"Him leaning over to check is killing me, he really knows exactly what he's doing," another pointed out.
"Many birds have the intelligence of a 3-year-old human child. This is a typical favorite 3-year-old activity," a follower remarked.
"Don't you mean, Kevin is feeding his dogs treats?" someone asked.
"Kevin is a sharer. Be like Kevin," a fan posted.
Can Birds and Dogs Get Along?
While it's possible for birds and dogs to peacefully coexist, several factors can have an impact on creating a harmonious relationship, including:

- Breed and Temperament: Certain dog breeds have strong prey drives, such as Dachshunds, Terriers, or Hounds, which make them less ideal for living with birds. Gentler breeds like Golden Retrievers or Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are calmer and wouldn't be as triggered to pursue.
- Bird Species: Small birds like finches or budgies would be considered less intimidating by your dog than large parrots.
- Early Socialization: Dogs raised around birds from puppyhood grow accustomed to their presence and show less aggression.
- Training Level: Dogs that are well-trained and immediately respond to commands like "leave it" or "stay" are easier to control around birds.
- Supervision: Never leave dogs and birds unsupervised.
With time and proper training, a bird and a dog could develop a loving rapport like Kevin and his canine siblings.
