'The Agency' Season 2 Confirms Release Date, Cast, and Drops New Trailer

The CIA agent known as "Martian" has returned. After a wait of over a year, the hit Showtime/Paramount+ series The Agency will return for Season 2 very soon. Season 1 didn't exactly end on a huge cliffhanger, but Martian has a lot of enemies from within and without. Michael Fassbender is returning to one of his greatest roles ever as Martian in Season 2, and we've got the full scoop on what to expect.

Here are details on The Agency Season 2, including the plot, the cast, the trailer, and the release date for the fast-approaching, hit Paramount+ spy series.

The Agency Season 2 Plot and Trailer

On May 19, Paramount dropped the first full trailer for The Agency Season 2, and in it, we get a full tease of what this season is all about. We get a recap of what Martian was doing last season, and then the real plot is revealed. This season will be a "mole hunt," meaning that this entire season will be about figuring out who is betraying whom. Clearly, Martian is playing a huge game of chess, and the takes are massive.

Here's the official plot synopsis from Paramount:

The Agency follows Martian (Fassbender), a CIA agent living undercover in his own life. Samia (Turner-Smith), his lover, is a political prisoner in Sudan, and he will do anything to try to save her, even past the point of treachery. The only way out is deeper in. A knife-edge Martian must walk if he is to save love, life, and his mission.

The Agency Season 2 Cast

Much of the cast of The Agency Season 1 is returning for Season 2. Here's who is confirmed to come back so far:

  • Michael Fassbender as Martian
  • Jeffrey Wright as Chief Henry Ogletree
  • Jodie Turner-Smith as Dr. Sami Zahir
  • Katherine Waterston as Naomi,
  • Richard Gere as "Bosko" Bradley.

New cast members for The Agency Season 2

  • Christian Ochoa Lavernia as "Grandma, undercover agent."
  • Clayne Crawford as "Viking."

Is The Agency changing its title?

Back in 2025, it was reported that The Agency would now be known as The Agency: Central Intelligence. As of this writing, that no longer seems to be the case, though the series will (obviously) still focus on the CIA, the Central Intelligence Agency.
