This Mama Bald Eagle's Dedication to Her Babies Is Melting Hearts
Although I love birds, and I have loved birds for as long as I can remember, I have never seen a Bald Eagle before. It's on my bucket list for sure! They're just so regal... I can definitely understand why America picked this one.
For now, I'll have to settle for watching videos of these majestic birds! Luckily, someone recently posted a super cute one! Just look at this loving, devoted Bald Eagle caring for her sweet little babies. She's the best:

Okay, so apparently, I need to go to The Nimpkish Hotel if I want to see a Bald Eagle for myself. BRB, I'm booking a trip! How cute is this?!

The Nimpkish Hotel is located on Cormorant Island in British Columbia, Canada. There are tons of Bald Eagles around the establishment: the hotel has a stunning waterfront deck, and that's where they film all of these majestic birds. Right now, it's hatching season!
It's a little ironic that a place in Canada is one of the best spots to spot the Bald Eagle, but whatever! In this video, there are a few different birds:
- Mama, the full-grown bird, who's at least 5 years old.
- A few immature Bald Eagle babies (also called Eaglets).
- Crows, who are hoping to get in on some of the action.
According to Nimpkish, the mama was definitely providing for those youngsters: she wasn't chasing them off when they tried to eat, whereas she was not having it with the crows. That's just so sweet! These three aren't it, though: there's a whole gaggle!
@nimpkishhotel captured these eagles today and the juveniles were NOT letting the adults eat. Most people think the adults are the bosses of the sky, but here it looks the opposite. What do you think is happening here? Is it respect, patience, or fear? Let's discuss in the comments.#wildlife#wildlifewatching#birdsofprey#nature#eagles

Once again, the crows trying to get in on it. How silly is that?! Has it ever worked out for them?!
Bald Eagles Are Very Protective
As you can clearly see, Bald Eagles are the best. They don't even boss their young around: when the young ones in the second video were eating, they would not even let the adults grab a single bite! Bald Eagles take very good, and very thorough, care of their young.
Bald Eagle fledglings will usually stay with their parents for the first 5 months of their lives. Their parents protect them fiercely, chasing off predators and providing food until they're ready to start hunting on their own. If a Bald Eagle feels like her Eaglets are threatened, she'll:
- Flap her wings.
- Screech loudly.
- Charge at the intruder.
That's why, if you find a nest of Bald Eagle babies, you should always leave it alone. Plus, never forget that messing with Bald Eagles in America is against the law! These majestic, magical birds are best left to themselves!
