Caring for Baby Ducklings
The baby ducklings sleeping together at the same time is actually quite normal, and not to mention, heart-melting behavior.
Baby ducks can't regulate their own temperature, so it makes sense that they would sleep together for warmth.
Plus, normal duckling behavior includes a lot of naps during the day, as these little babies are growing very fast, and that takes up a lot of their energy!
For this group of exhausted ducks, they were most likely playing or eating, and then that period of rapid activity was followed by a long nap, altogether in two lines, some with legs sprawled.
This is behavior you should absolutely be aware of, especially if you're raising baby ducklings.
It's essential that they have comfy and warm bedding.
They must stay in a brooder box, an enclosure that keeps them warm and safe.
Proper bedding can include clean towels, T-shirts, or wood shavings.
Als,o be sure to make sure the brooder box isn't exposed to any drafts.
The top should be open, but the box needs tall walls to keep the baby ducks warm without letting them escape.
To keep them warm, you should also use a heat lamp. And be sure to get a thermometer to ensure the temperature on the floor of the brooder box is 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
