Napa-based cannabis-infused beverage company files for bankruptcy
House of Saka, a Napa-based company that makes cannabis-infused beverages made from alcohol-removed wines, has filed for bankruptcy.
The Chapter 7 bankruptcy was filed on May 13 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California.
House of Saka Inc. owes $115,269 to creditors and has $10,000 in assets, according court documents. The largest debtor is a San Francisco law firm.
Executives from the company include Napans: CEO Tracy Mason, House of Saka board member Mason Garrity and COO/CFO Sue Bachorski.
According to the company website, the THC CBD formulations used in House of Saka's Vinfusions "were developed utilizing the most advanced nano-emulsion technology available today." This technology breaks down the cannabis oil, which "allows for immediate absorption through the mouth and stomach lining for rapid onset."
"Unlike other cannabis edibles where the onset effects are not felt until digestion, House of Saka's experience begins approximately 5 to 15 minutes after consumption, so users get immediate feedback on how to self-dose," reads the website.
According to the filing, House of Saka previously used an address at 1300 First St. in downtown Napa, at the Spaces co-working offices. Two House of Saka products use grapes grown in the Napa Valley, according to its website.
Representatives from House of Saka could not be immediately reached on Friday.
