Summer is coming in hot (literally), and if you're one of the brave souls who signed up for a fall race, the bulk of your training will likely line up with the sunniest months of the year. Staying cool and comfortable during those sweaty miles is key. After all, being equipped with the right running gear can be the difference between a comfortable long run and a chafing nightmare.

Accordingly, we were stoked when Origin's line of temperature-regulating workout gear landed on our radar. And after testing out their RTX® Nanorip Training Shorts during several runs in rising temperatures, they've quickly earned a permanent spot in the rotation. The lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric keeps things cool while the relaxed fit makes them comfortable enough to double as leisure wear.

If you're looking for a pair of running shorts built to handle brutal summer runs, read on for our full review of Origin's RTX® Nanorip Training Shorts.

Origin RTX® Nanorip Training Shorts Review

I pride myself on testing everything I review myself, but since this is a men's line, I handed testing duties off to a trustworthy companion: my stepdad. As a runner currently training for his first half-marathon-in the relentlessly humid state of Florida, no less-I figured he'd make the perfect guinea pig. Safe to say, he became a fan of Origin's RTX® Nanorip Training Shorts pretty quickly.

Before even hitting the pavement, he mentioned how comfortable they felt, specifically calling out the waistband for being secure without feeling too restrictive. Once he got moving, the comfort only got better. He noted there was zero chafing, plenty of flexibility, and that the shorts never rode up or pinched through the thighs and crotch area during runs. He also liked that the legs weren't overly baggy, giving them a more streamlined feel without sacrificing mobility. Post-run, he was especially impressed by how quickly they dried. Another standout feature for him was the pockets, which were deep enough to comfortably hold his phone and keys without worrying about them bouncing or falling out mid-run.

That said, fit will probably come down to personal preference. Depending on size and how you like your running shorts to fit, some runners find the waistband either too tight or a bit loose. The inseam may also feel shorter than expected for those who prefer more coverage, while runners with thicker thighs might find the fit a little more snug than they'd like.
