Pet Parents Can't Stop Laughing at This Ragdoll Cat's Nickname Evolution

Does your pet have a nickname that makes absolutely no sense, or has nothing to do with their actual name? We have a cat named Mike (who is a girl, by the way) who somehow became Miguel, then Douglas, then Dougie Houser... and occasionally, Cilantro. Don't ask us how. And apparently, Merlin the Ragdoll cat's parents can't explain the evolution of his nickname, either.

Merlin is known online for his permanently grouchy face and demeanor, but in this video, viewers get the full breakdown of how his name evolved over time. Somehow, Merlin eventually became "Bobby Brown Town," and honestly, pet parents everywhere can totally relate. It makes perfect sense in the strange way that nicknames always seem to.

Don't think he's happy about any of them tbh

In the caption, Merlin's parents shared, "Don't think he's happy about any of them, to be honest." We'd agree, based on the look on his cute little grumpy face!

Commenter @Larran hit the nail on the head with, "Should be Bobby Brown Frown."

Pet Parents Everywhere Felt Seen by This Video

Commenters couldn't wait to share their own pets' nicknames, and everybody laughed reading through them.

@Mim shared her cat's nickname evolution. "I call our cat Adam sometimes. One of his nicknames is Pitter Patter Jones, so obviously that means I start singing 'Mr. Jones' by the Counting Crows, whose lead singer is Adam Duritz, so I call him Adam. Oh, and he also gets called Dimitri, which is also not his name."

Commenter @JRo shared, "Louie - Lou Lou- Newie - Nu Nu. They always evolve, lol. That's just one of my four cats whose name has evolved based on personality, lol!

@jmstueb cracked us up with, "Cosmo > Mo > momo > mewmewmeowmeowmomer. Not sure how we got here. LOL!"

Another commenter said what we were all thinking, "I can't remember the last time I called my pets by their actual names, lol!"
