Senior Pregnant Beagle Rescued From Lab Enjoys the Outdoors for the First Time and We're Emotional
More than 1,500 Beagles were recently rescued from Ridglan Farms, a Wisconsin breeding and recent facility, and are experiencing love and security for the very first time. After Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy negotiated a confidential agreement to purchase the 1,500 dogs for an undisclosed price from Ridglan Farms, the Beagles were placed with rescue organizations that are giving these precious pooches the healing touch and environment they need.
One senior Beagle is expecting puppies and got to feel the sun on her face for the first time in her entire life and you can easily see her gratitude.
@meraclepaws We've carried 1000 Lab Beagles out of that place into freedom. So many of them were seniors… dogs who spent their entire lives in cages breeding puppies for experiments and testing. This sweet senior mama had never touched grass, breathed fresh air, or felt the sun on her face. Today I held her while she lifted her head to the sky and tasted sunshine with her little tongue for the very first time. I don't think I'll ever forget this moment for the rest of my life. In the TikTok from @meraclepaws, one of the rescuers held the sweet senior Beagle in her arms as the darling dog held her head up toward the sun. The Beagle's eyes were closed as she took in the warmth and got to finally experience fresh air. The rescue organization revealed how dire the situation was for these canines.
"We've carried 1000 Lab Beagles out of that place into freedom," the caption shared. "So many of them were seniors… dogs who spent their entire lives in cages breeding puppies for experiments and testing."
The pregnant Beagle was one of the many survivors from the breeding and research facility. These dogs were held in horrible conditions and finally got to experience basic pleasures like affection, gentleness, and even the outdoors.
"This sweet senior mama had never touched grass, breathed fresh air, or felt the sun on her face," the story continued. "Today I held her while she lifted her head to the sky and tasted sunshine with her little tongue for the very first time. I don't think I'll ever forget this moment for the rest of my life."
Rescued Beagles Are Receiving Adoption Applications
The Beagles seemed to sense that their rescuers were there to set them free and quickly began to trust the animal advocates.
"They started within an hour or so coming up to us, wanting attention," Big Dog Ranch Rescue Founder and President Lauree Simmons said, according to NBC Miami. "Some crawled in people's laps. Every single one of them is super sweet. I think they are loving the attention. I just know they know they're safe."

Over 700 adoption applications have been received so far for these Beagles, though the rescued dogs need some time to heal before heading to their forever homes.
