I Tried the Trader Joe's White Wine Bottle Hack That the Internet Is Obsessed With, and I Totally Understand the Hype
If you're sick of looking at your plain or store-bought bottle of olive oil on your counter and wish it looked a little more eccentric or whimsical, all you may need is a cheap bottle of wine and a pour spout.
And one of the best ones to use? This adorable fish-shaped white wine can be found at local wine stores and has been virally shared by people finding it at their local Trader Joe's and World Market.

In fact, I loved this idea so much, I did it myself. Find out how I and creators like @reelhousewifeofchicago did it below.

How to Make Your Own
While this isn't necessarily DIY, it is a great hack.
I found my Opici Vino Bianco wine at Trader Joe's for around $10, but it doesn't appear to be available on their online storefront. However, this wine isn't exclusive to the store and can be found at your local World Market or another wine store.
Once you get this specific bottle of wine, transforming it into an oil dispenser is easy. All you need to do is drink all the wine (a true travesty, I know), clean the bottle and fill it with your preferred cooking oil.
To remove the wine label sticker without damaging the bottle, fill the bottle with hot water and let it sit to loosen the adhesive. Then, slowly peel it away. For the top green plastic part, I simply used sharp scissors to get underneath it, cut it and pull the rest off.
All you need after is to top it off with an old olive oil spout or glass bottle spout (or buy one for less than $10 if you don't have one).
The Result
Overall, I've been using my wine fish-turned-olive oil dispenser for a few weeks, and love it.
Not only is it adorable to look at, but it also holds a ton of oil. Which, if you do a lot of cooking, is a great perk.
Other comments on @reelhousewifeofchicago's video shared how they did the exact same project, including with different wine bottles or fillers, and have loved it.
"I put my dish soap in it!!" one commenter shared.
Whether you just want to try a new wine or don't drink at all, but want a cute bottle for oil, soap, vinegar, etc., this is the perfect idea to bring a little extra personality into your space at little cost.
Plus, the wine makes it a win-win scenario.
