WWE Announces Contract Extension For Triple H
Just three days after they released nearly two dozen wrestlers in budget cuts, WWE has given Triple H (real name Paul Levesque) a new contract.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, WWE President Nick Khan announced in a meeting that Triple H recently agreed to a contract extension to remain the company's Chief Content Officer.
Sources told Johnson that it's a multi-year contract, potentially "as long as three years." According to Johnson, Triple H signed the new deal before WrestleMania 42 weekend on Apr. 18-19.
As WWE's Chief Content Officer, Triple H is in charge of the company's creative team. He was promoted in 2022 following Vince McMahon's retirement. McMahon, Triple H's father-in-law, stepped away during an investigation of misconduct allegations.
Triple H has faced immense criticism over his booking decisions as WWE's Chief Content Officer. Notably, fans booed Triple H and chanted expletives at him in the post-show after John Cena lost his retirement match to Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event XLII.
Triple H Faces One of His Greatest Challenges Yet As WWE's Chief Content Officer
There are many things that Triple H has done differently from Vince McMahon as the man in charge of WWE creative. One thing Triple H hasn't gotten away from: Relying on veterans and part-time stars, just like Vince.
Well, things won't be so simple anymore. John Cena is retired. Brock Lesnar strongly indicated he's done after losing to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42.
WWE still leans aplenty on Roman Reigns and CM Punk, who headlined WrestleMania 42, to carry their product. At some point, Triple H will want to shift his focus toward fresher faces who work full-time schedules.
For Triple H, all that matters is the opinion of his bosses. And so far, they're obviously pleased with his performance.
