Riley Green Clarifies Alabama Trash Talk Ahead of 'Marshals' Episode 9 Return

After a ton of anticipation, Riley Green finally made his debut in the Yellowstone spinoff, Marshals, on April 19, in Episode 8 "Blowback." Playing Garrett, an old colleague of Kacye's (Luke Grimes), Green brought new energy to the midseason game of Marshals. Now, in Episode 9, "In Low Places," Green will return once again as Garrett as the stakes get bigger than ever.

But, before the episode airs, Green has addressed one comment his character made in Episode 8, in which Garrett said: "...the only good thing to come out of [Alabama] is the I-20, myself included." As with his Marshals character, Green is actually from Alabama, but he's setting the record straight about his feelings about his home state. "I certainly need to clarify that," Green told USA Today. "One thing about my fans, especially my Alabama fans: They know how I feel about being from here, and I am proud of this area where I'm from..."I did think it was cool that my character was written as being from Alabama."

In the continuity of Marshals, Garrett is a former member of the same Navy SEAL team that consisted of Kayce, Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Garrett, and a deceased comrade named Roner. Early in Episode 8, Garrett jokes about the team being called the "four musketeers," even though they probably never used that nickname.

As has become a tradition on Marshals, Green will also debut a new country song. After featuring in-episode performances from Ashley Cooke and Adam Sanders, Green will perform his song "My Way" in Episode 9.

Some corners of the internet will tell you this scene happened in Episode 8, but that's not the case; this scene with Green performing "My Way" around a campfire has been glimpsed in previews shared by Green and CBS. But, Men's Journal can confirm that scene is coming in Episode 9.

Marshals Episode 9 Streaming Time and Plot

Marshals episode 9, "In Low Places," will air on CBS on Sunday, April 26. Here's the official synopsis from CBS/Paramount: With one of their own taken prisoner, the Marshals strategize a risky assault on a paramilitary compound. Outmanned, outgunned, and with time rapidly running out, Kayce leads the team straight into the fire, risking everything to save their teammate.

Marshals airs new episodes on Sundays, but releases new episodes on Paramount+ the day after. But that's only true if you have a standard "Paramount+ Essential" plan. If you upgrade to a Paramount+ Premium plan (which is $13.99 a month versus the $8.99), then you can watch the episode right away on Paramount+ on Sunday.
