Adding a puppy to the family is always an exciting time that brings a whole new energy to the home. That vibe is essentially an equal mix of chaos and excitement that might take some getting used to, especially for some more than others.

In this video, we meet a senior Golden Retriever who's one of those family members who need some easing into new puppy energy, which he quickly made clear with how close he stayed to his human. It's hilarious, and you need to take a look!

TikTok user @broncododgerlife shared a funny point-of-view video of their senior Golden Retriever, who was all up in his feelings because he's now a big brother. Joining the family is another Golden Retriever, but way younger and with a whole lot more energy.

At first, the senior pup didn't seem too thrilled about having another dog in the home. His dad was doing his best to comfort him, giving him a sweet cuddle from behind while the puppy buzzed around him.

But while he seemed very disinterested in the silly puppy at first, the video also showed the two very happily resting in a fluffy cuddle puddle. These two love each other!

How To Introduce a New Puppy to a Senior Dog

There's no doubt these two are going to become fast friends, but if you're looking to introduce a little puppy to your senior dog, there are a few things you can do to make the transition a little easier, according to experts.

The American Kennel Club says you should go into the introduction knowing that this isn't going to be like what you see in the movies. With that in mind, you should watch for signs of aggression, the experts share, including snarling, snapping, lunging, barking, biting, and growling.

To prepare your older pup, you'll want to keep their routine as close to what it is as possible, make sure you're showing them attention, and give them one-on-one attention. Then it's just time, patience, and creating a safe environment. Looping in your veterinarian to help troubleshoot any issues that might come up.

Hopefully, in no time, the new puppy and your senior dog will become cuddle friends-and a home filled with even more love, like this one.
