There's curiosity, and then there's committing to curiosity in a way you can't undo.

Pep, the Dachshund, spots a frog, leans in, and makes a choice that lasts about 1 second and somehow changes everything. It's quick. It's quiet. And then her face does something truly unforgettable.

Replying to @OffspringPunk I think this made me laugh even harder than the original #daschund#dog#fyp

TikTok user @helloitsmeheather shared the slow-motion "dog licks frog" video, and honestly, the timing is what makes it. Pep gives the frog a tiny lick and immediately cycles through confusion, alarm, regret, and full-body "why did I do that" in a matter of seconds.

It's not dramatic. It's worse. It's specific.

Her eyes widen just slightly, her mouth shifts, and then you can almost see the exact moment the realization hits. This was not the right decision. This was never going to be the right decision.

The frog, for his part, remains completely unbothered. Which somehow makes it funnier.

People in the comments were absolutely losing it over her reaction.

"She said EEEYUUUCK!" one person wrote.

"Why is this spicy?" another added.

"That poor baby went through all the emojis!!" someone else commented.

"The frog knew. He knew and laughed," one person joked.

"Frog said, ‘Wait for it,'" another added.

"Never seen a dog make so many expressions of disgust before," someone else wrote.

And honestly, that's the whole thing. It's the range. The full emotional arc in under 5 seconds.

I don't know, it's one of those moments that feels very universal. My cat Meatball once sniffed something questionable and immediately looked personally offended, like the world had betrayed him. Pep just took it one step further and committed to the experience.

What To Do If Your Dog Licks a Frog or Toad

Most frogs are harmless, but some toads can release toxins that may irritate your dog's mouth, or in more serious cases, cause poisoning.

If your pup licks a frog or toad, watch closely for symptoms like excessive drooling, pawing at the mouth, vomiting, or unusual behavior. These can be signs of irritation or a reaction to toxins.

If you're concerned, gently rinse your dog's mouth with clean water, being careful not to force water down their throat. Then contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal clinic right away, especially if symptoms appear or worsen.

Certain species, like Cane Toads or Colorado River Toads, can be particularly dangerous, so it's always better to be cautious.

In Pep's case, it looks like she mostly experienced immediate regret. Which… honestly, might be the best possible outcome.
