Golden Retriever Refuses to Leave Grandma's House and the Reason Left Family Stunned
One family wound up being surprised when nothing they did would get their Golden Retriever to leave grandma's house.
Not offers of treats, or walks. Not even the words "pup cup" could convince him. He just sat there like a statue on the steps staring back-not budging. If you know Goldens, that's already weird. They just don't turn down snacks or car rides or walks. Ever.
The strange thing is, this had never happened before. He typically leaves without a fight. But this time, he absolutely refused. The reason why didn't make sense until later.
@laurenandcody I bring Charlie to my parents house all the time and he always leaves with me right away but last week he refused to leave, wouldn't move and stayed right next to my mom for 20 minutes, which he has never done before. No one would believe it unless they saw it. a few hours later we found out my grandmother (my moms mom) passed away and now it just feels like he knew, like he just wanted to stay by my mom's side a little longer dogs really do have this intuition, they sense things before we do, and it's something you can't even explain unless you've seen it they're honestly the greatest gift on this earth My bubby was the greatest person I've ever known, no one made me laugh more and she loved Charlie so much I'm going to miss her so much

A few hours passed, and everything became clear.
After they left, they received a call informing them that grandma's mom had passed away. And all of a sudden, his stubbornness, and refusal to leave made sense. It seemed intentional-like he knew something was off, and he wanted to be by her side.
Of course, there's no way to prove this. And cynics will say "that's crazy talk." But, if you asked anyone who's lived with a dog long enough they'll tell you-sometimes dogs just seem to know.
The Response From TikTok
Three thousand comments a,d nearly everyone agrees that Charlie knew something was coming, "Gosh, the look in his eyes. It's like he's trying to tell you something," said one. "Those of us that have had dogs know…dogs are such amazing, caring, intuitive, 4-legged friends. I feel their souls become bonded with our souls, and they just know. Prayers for your family, and I'm so glad you have a great comfort with you all," replied another. "Always listen to what your dogs are trying to tell you."
Other viewers had their own stories about their own dogs, which they shared. "The day that my dad passed, my dog would not leave my dad's chair he would always sit in. Literally she sat there all day," shared one commenter. Another shared a sweet story: "My daughter's dog stood by me for about a month until my dad passed. I was surprised he wouldn't leave me. Wherever I was, he would sit right there by me." And one viewer said, "My dog did the SAME thing! He literally shadowed me one day very differently, and I called my mom to tell her what he was doing. I left and went to my mom's, and she had a heart attack that day. Now they are both in heaven."

Whatever the explanation, Charlie wasn't leaving grandma's side. It also happened to be at a time when she needed him more than ever, and maybe that's what matters over everything else.
