Indoor pickleball club planned in Fairfield
America's fastest-growing sport is coming to a new indoor location in Fairfield.
JLL, a global commercial real estate services and investment management firm, announced Thursday that The Picklr, a rapidly expanding network of premium indoor pickleball clubs across North America, has signed a lease and is set to open a new 18,500-square-foot facility at 1574 Gateway Blvd. in Fairfield. The space was previously occupied by Party City.
The new club is expected to open in May 2026. It will be The Picklr's second location in Northern California and part of the company's broader national expansion, officials said.
Founded in 2021, The Picklr operates membership-based indoor pickleball clubs designed for players of all skill levels. The brand has expanded rapidly, with more than 500 locations sold nationwide, reflecting growing demand for the sport. The company is backed by partners including Pickleball Inc. and Super Bowl champion Drew Brees.
"Pickleball continues to be one of the fastest-growing recreational sports in the country, and concepts like The Picklr are helping meet the increasing demand for dedicated indoor facilities," John Brecher, Senior Vice President at JLL, said in a press release. "We're proud to have worked with The Picklr to secure a location that supports their long-term growth while bringing a dynamic recreational amenity to the Fairfield community."
The Fairfield club will be located in the Gateway Courtyard retail center, across from Solano Mall. Plans for the facility include seven courts - one of them a championship court - along with AI-powered coaching technology, leagues, tournaments, and drop-in play.
"We're incredibly excited to bring The Picklr to Fairfield and be part of such a vibrant and growing community," said Andy Eliopoulos, owner of The Picklr Fairfield. "Our vision is to deliver a premium, year-round pickleball experience while creating a welcoming environment where players of all levels can connect, dink, and compete."
Additional amenities are expected to include a pro shop, grab-and-go food and beverage options, private event spaces, locker rooms and showers, outdoor surfacing areas, and court reservation services.
"We're eager to open our second Northern California location in Fairfield," said Chris Walker, Chief Development Officer at The Picklr. "The city stood out to us for its strong demand for year-round recreational activities and its central location between Sacramento and the Bay Area."
The Picklr is currently inviting prospective players to sign up for updates on its Founder Membership program. A limited number of early members will have access to a lifetime membership discount when presales begin ahead of the planned opening.
