The most polarizing prospect in this year's NFL Draft could be Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.

Some view him as the best receiver in the draft, even above consensus number one wideout Carnell Tate. His talent is undeniable, drawing comparisons to receivers like CeeDee Lamb.

Others are scared off by his injury history. Tyson has had MCL, ACL, collarbone, and hamstring injuries. He missed the NFL Combine and his pro day due to the hamstring in particular.

And then there are questions about his toughness and competitiveness, an obvious prerequisite for NFL success. One man who has no doubts about his toughness is Arizona State wide receivers coach Hines Ward. Ward, one of the most physical receivers in NFL history, has gone on record numerous times advocating for Tyson. Ward will even attend next week's draft in Pittsburgh to support his prized pupil.

But a private workout on April 17th could determine if Tyson leaps into the top 10, or falls to the end of the first round. We've seen talented players fall in the draft due to medical reasons. You see this particularly with degenerative knee issues and soft tissue injuries. Each NFL team has their own personnel with their own opinions. Some teams are willing to take the risk while others won't even have them on their board.

It's unclear what drills Tyson will participate in during his private workout. The wide receiver talent pool is deep in this year's draft. If Tyson's durability remains a concern, teams could pivot to players like KC Concepcion, Makai Lemon, or Omar Cooper. But if he can show he's 100%, his playmaking ability may make him too good to pass up.
