10 roadside attractions in America that can still wow you

If you haven’t been to the International Car Forest of the Last Church, have you really lived?

Don’t worry, there’s still time – and if you’re really into esoteric bucket-list items, time enough to visit all of Parade’s "10 Roadside Attractions That Are Still Worth Pulling Over For."

From a foam replica of Stonehenge in Virginia to a record-breaking ball of twine in Nebraska to the Bay Area’s own Mystery Spot, a supposedly physics-defying locale in Santa Cruz, Parade has deemed these attractions as the most prime Americana.

Fittingly enough for a road trip, three of the sites are made of old cars arranged in curious formations. Southern California makes an appearance for a "massive outdoor art piece covered in spiritual messages and paint," Parade writes. And who can’t love Lucy the Elephant, a six-story pachyderm in New Jersey that’s the "oldest surviving example of novelty architecture in the U.S."?

Parade’s top roadside attractions in the U.S.

1 Cadillac Ranch (Amarillo, Texas)

2 Lucy the Elephant (Margate City, N.J.)

3 Salvation Mountain (Niland, Calif.)

4 Wall Drug (Wall, S.D.)

5 Carhenge (Alliance, Neb.)

6 Foamhenge (Natural Bridge, Va.)

7 South of the Border (Hamer, S.C.)

8 International Car Forest of the Last Church (Goldfield, Nev.)

9 World's Largest Ball of Twine (Cawker City, Kan.)

10 The Mystery Spot (Santa Cruz, Calif.)
