This Tower District icon is closing after 33 years
After 33 years in the Tower District, Valentino’s clothing store is closing.
The store known for selling retro dresses, Doc Martens and other funky merchandise will close Wednesday. Owners Laurie and Peter Valentino are retiring and looking forward to slowing things down a bit.
A sale has already started at the store.
Laurie Valentino didn’t want to be interviewed but pointed to a Facebook post by Valentino’s neighbor, Dragon’s Treasure.
Here’s what that store had to say about Valentino’s closing:
“We wanted to let everyone know that Valentino’s is planning on closing at the end of this month as the owners are retiring.
“Valentino’s has been our good neighbor for many years, even before we moved onto Olive Avenue, when Lauri owned Betty Boop and we were all located on North Van Ness.
“We are happy and sad, happy that they are moving onto the next phase of their lives, and sad that they won’t be our neighbors anymore.”
