Retirees luncheon set for Dec. 10

California State Retirees Chapter 11 will hold a Christmas luncheon 11:30 a.m. Dec. 10 at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church’s Social Hall, 2226 Ventura Ave. There will be guest speakers, ROTC color guard and carolers.

Fresno County Democratic Women’s Club will hold its annual holiday celebration luncheon, program and champagne toast Dec. 12 at Ramada Inn, 324 E. Shaw Ave. The luncheon costs $20 if reservations are made on or before Dec. 7 and $25 after.

Blanket and coat drive is underway

Harris Construction is conducting its annual blanket and coat drive now through Dec. 13. Drop off new or gently-used items for men, women, teens and children of all ages every weekday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at any Harris Construction job site trailer or to the main office at 5286 E. Home Ave.

Maddy looking for 2017 interns

The Maddy Institute is accepting applications for the Spring 2017 legislative intern scholarship program and Summer 2017 internships in Washington, D.C., and Sacramento from students who have a 3.0 overall GPA or higher and are a junior or graduate student in standing (60 units completed). Applications must be postmarked, delivered, emailed or faxed by 5 p.m. Friday and are available at www.maddyinstitute.com. Boys & Girls to see ‘Grinch’

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sequoias presents Dr. Seuss’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Farmersville Boys & Girls Club, 623 N. Avery Ave. Tickets cost $5 or $3 for children and proceeds will benefit clubs in Tulare, Visalia, Ivanhoe, Farmersville and Exeter.

McLane High School’s Class of 1967 will hold its 50th class reunion Oct. 21, 2017 at Fort Washington Country Club, 10272 N. Millbrook Ave.

Tachi raises funds for Toys for Tots

Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino held its monthly community breakfast on Nov. 18 and along with approximately 250 community members raised $1,268 for Toys for Tots which the casino will match. General manager Willie Barrios rounded the number up to $3,000 which will help purchase toys for children in need.
