Democratic Women to meet Monday

Fresno County Democratic Women’s Club will hold a meeting Monday at Ramada Inn, 324 E. Shaw Ave. Don Larson will speak on what can be learned from the 2016 election. Lunch begins at noon and the program will begin at 12:15 p.m. Cost is $20 or $5 for the speaker only.

Homeless Christmas dinner Dec. 21

The 30th annual homeless Christmas dinner will be held 3 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 21 at Roeding Park in the Eucalyptus Grove, 894 W. Belmont Ave. Organizers are seeking donations of hams, rolls, rice pilaf and vegetables, coffee and juice, plates, foam cups and plastic silverware. Individual families and groups are invited.

Republican Women to meet

Fresno County & City Republican Women Federated will hold a meeting at noon Thursday at Ramada Inn, 324 E. Shaw Ave. Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp will speak. The luncheon costs $20.

CASA to hold info sessions

CASA of Fresno & Madera Counties will hold two informational sessions for those interested in becoming a court appointed special advocate for foster children. The one-hour sessions will be at 9 a.m. Dec. 3 and 6:15 p.m. Dec. 7 at 1252 Fulton Mall.

Dutch Bros. raises $5,733 for charity

On Nov. 15 Dutch Bros. Fresno, along with the community, raised $5,733 in support of the Marjaree Mason Center and the Poverello House to provide Thanksgiving dinners for families in need.

Grants presented by Kaiser

Kaiser Permanente Fresno is giving $45,000 in grants during the holiday season to help needy families in the Valley. The following grants were given: $5,000 to the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fresno to provide turkey meals for 500 families; $10,000 to the Community Food Bank to feed up to 1,000 families for a week; $10,000 to the Poverello House; $10,000 to The Salvation Army for food boxes that will be distributed to nearly 1,500 needy families; and $10,000 to the Madera County Food Bank.
