Alternative metal band Deftones sets Woodward Park concert date
In more good news for rock fans in the Valley, the alternative metal band Deftones has added a series of dates to its headlining tour, and Fresno is included.
The band will play Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Rotary Amphitheater at Woodward Park. Tickets for the show are $40 (plus service charges) and go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, April 1, online at www.ticketweb.com, at Strummer’s or SBI Boardshop.
Over its 20-plus year career, the Sacramento band has released seven albums, including 1994’s “Adrenaline,” and a more progressive self-titled 2003 release that debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 charts. The band is touring in support of its eighth release, “Gore,” which comes out April 8 on Warner Bros. Records. The single “Prayers/Triangles” is out now.
Deftones made the rounds at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin, headlining both Spin’s 14th Annual Day Party at Stubb’s and a show at SXSW’s Outdoor that had more than 15,000 fans. The band will perform April 12 on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Fans may remember the Deftones’ 2010 visit to Fresno when they played the Rotary Amphitheater. They also played Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles in October.
