Artist You Should Know: Amoret turns solo project into energetic live band

Christine Graham is a woman. A woman who writes songs and likes love. In a way, she encapsulates the word amoret (at least from the standpoint of a dictionary definition). That’s why she took it as the name of the four-piece synth-pop band she started in 2011.

That, and the word reminded her of Haley Williams’ band Paramore.

“I really love Paramore. And the words kind of line up,” she says.

The basics: Amoret started as a solo project with Graham writing and recording songs on her own. When it came time to perform those songs live, she reached out to guitarist (and her fiancé) CJ Ramsey, drummer Josh Ramsey and bassist Jared Johns.

Releases: The band released a five-song EP, HRZN, early last year. A follow-up full-length album is in the works for release this year.

For fans of: Upbeat, guitar-driven synth-pop and high-energy live performances in the vein of Paramore, Metric or the Killers.

Find out more: You can follow the band online (at and across social media platforms (@amoretmusic on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).
