Think of Jaguar Bennett as Anti Claus, a bizzarro version of Old Saint Nick, whose Anti-Christmas, Anti-Family Comedy Special is a belated Christmas gift for those who can’t imagine spending one more minute with their families.
“I wanted to show my contempt for Christmas and everything wholesome and good,” says Bennett, a local actor and stand-up comic.
He remembers being younger and needing a break during the holidays.
“I was waiting for that last fork to hit the plate so I could run to the bar,” he says.
So, the show is a fun-time night out right after Christmas. There’s a cocktail hour before the performances — which includes Bennett and spoken word poet/performance artist Shane “Scurvy” Spears.
Bennett is joking about hating Christmas, or maybe not. He does bill himself as Fresno’s most offensive comedian.
This is his schtick and part of selling the show.
Audiences can expect to be offended, Bennett says. Viewer discretion is highly advised, though that shouldn’t stop you from buying tickets, he says. If you get too offended, you can always leave.
“As long as they pay their money, I don’t care if they stay for the whole thing or not.”
