Winter Dance Party brings ’50s rock ’n’ roll to Visalia Fox Theater
John Mueller’s Winter Dance Party is a faithful tribute to the 1959 tour headlined by Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson. The infamous tour came to a tragic end in Clear Lake, Iowa, on Feb. 3, when the three young stars were killed in a plan crash.
The date has since been remembered (in Don McLean’s anthem “American Pie” at least) as the “day the music died.”
Mueller stars as Holly in the tribute show, which also features Linwood Sasser as the Big Bopper and Ray Anthony as Ritchie Valens.
