The Subterraneans are arguably the longest-running band in Fresno.

Led by artist/musician Glen Delpit, the band has been playing continuously since 1987, when it formed as an offshoot of the Houserockers. That band was a fixture at the club Wild Blue Yonder. Guitarist Dean MacDonald and keyboardist John Suhr have been with Delpit since the start. Drummer Joe Luppino and bassist Chris Eacock are relative newbies. They’ve been in the band for 20 years.

While the band continues to plays local club shows — sometimes weekly — it has opened for or played backup to guys like Bo Diddley, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Booker T. It has also released four CDs of “bluesrootsy Americana” with heavy hints of Van Morrison. The latest, “After the Rain” was released in 2014.
