Guitarists John 5, Doyle bring Mad Monster to Fulton 55
John 5 has made a habit of working with metal’s best frontmen.
His résumé includes stints as sideman to Marilyn Manson, Rob Halford, David Lee Roth and his current gig with Rob Zombie. He’s also been hired to play on albums for Rick Springfield, Meatloaf, Ricky Martin and Alice Cooper.
In his limited time off, the Michigan guitarist has also managed to establish himself as an eclectic solo artist, releasing eight albums since 2004.
Currently John 5 is on tour with his band The Creatures, doing a set the guitarist describes as an “instrumental Alice Cooper show.”
For select dates, the band teams up with Doyle for the so-called Mad Monster tour, which stops Friday, Nov. 13, at Fulton 55.
Doyle is the metal project from guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein.
Doyle, as he’s known to fans, has an impressive résumé of his own. The 6-foot-3 muscled-up guitarist has been recording and touring since he was 16 and started playing in the seminal punk band Misfits with his brother, Jerry Only. His guitar style – a barrage of down strokes played at breakneck speed through a collection of low-end speakers and amp heads – has influenced a number of thrash and punk musicians, including the guys in Metallica.
Doyle released its debut album, “Abominator,” in 2013.
