Joan Jett is a leather clad rock n’ roll Goddess.

She became a star while still in her teens, playing guitar for the all-girl group The Runaways, which also featured singer Cherie Currie and guitarist Lita Ford. The band played fast and loose proto-punk and had a minor hit with “Cherry Bomb.”

Jett was played by Kristen Stewart in the band’s 2010 film biopic.

As a solo artist, Jett was a radio-rock staple in the 1980s with “I Love Rock n’ Roll,” “Bad Reputation” and her cover of “Crimson and Clover.” Her style and aesthetic inspired generations of women musicians, from the riot grrrl group Bikini Kill to Miley Cyrus. The latter inducted Jett into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, with a speech that began with a description of the first time she wanted to have sex with Jett.

Jett continues to write, record and produce. Her Blackheart Records label released albums by female punk-rock bands like the Dollytrots and Girl in a Coma.

Following the Visalia show, Jett will join English rock legends The Who on the band’s 50th anniversary tour.
