Daniel Castro headlines the 15th Annual Blues and Roots Festival at Civic Park in downtown Hanford.

The songwriter/guitarist made a name for himself in the Bay Area blues scene in the late ’90s with a style of tightly arranged soulful blues influenced by Alert Collins, Albert King and B.B. King. His music is loaded with “taste, tone, and technique,” according to Guitar Player Magazine

Castro will be joined by Fresno’s MoFo Party Band. Led the the Clifton brothers (and son), the band has played small clubs and large festivals across Europe; in Fiji and New Zealand. The band has earned a reputation for its energetic live show, its retro aesthetic and West Coast blues sound.

The Santa Cruz band Burnin’ Vernon Davis and Aftermath kicks off the festival with its blend of funk, soul, R&B, jazz and classic rock.

The festival is free. Bring your dancing shoes, blankets and lawn chairs.
